Kindergarten age - Children who are five years old on or before December 31, 2026 may register in Kindergarten for the 2026-27 school year. The Alberta government changed the entry age for students registering in Kindergarten, beginning in 2020-21. The entry age is the first year that a child may enter Kindergarten, and does not mean it is the only year children are eligible for Kindergarten. This is based on Alberta Education funding guidelines.
Use our online calculator to find out when a child can start Kindergarten.
